Yesterday my brother stopped by because Dustin was fixing his computer. My brother lives in Green Bay, which is about 4 hours from here, and that means I don't see him often. It's funny because back in the day Ryan and I used to fight like cats and dogs. These days, though, we get along pretty well and I was excited for him to stop by.
Because Dustin was fixing Ryan's comp, he took the day off from work. Yay! A lot of fixing the comp was spent waiting for things to work so in between that we had lunch and watched I Love You, Man. The movie was okay although not as funny as I thought it would be.
Ryan headed out in the early afternoon and then Dustin and I settled in to watch another movie (we're huge movie fans). The Hangover was HYSTERICAL and I can't believe it took us this long to see it! Definitely two thumbs up although maybe a movie you wouldn't want to see with your parents.
Then in the evening we had beef stew for dinner (which had been in the crock pot all day, thus making our apartment smell AMAZING) and watched The Bachelor. Or, rather, I watched The Bachelor and Dustin did crossword puzzles.
ALSO, I was able to check two more things off my 101 in 1001! On Sunday I finished my goal of drinking water every day for a month and on Saturday I got a library card. Go me!
We drove Dustin's grandma's purple van. Rather, Dustin and Shawn drove and I hung out in the back reading and watching old episodes of Party of 5 on my portable DVD player. It took us over 24 hours of driving (because we took a long way) but it was totally worth it. We stayed with Dustin's other cousin Sean, who showed us around his area of Virginia as well as the first day we went to DC. It was SO much fun. We checked out some cool bars, played mini gold, saw great sights in DC (one of which was the National Archives, a must see for me), saw the Hope Diamond and went to Virginia Beach. The weather was GORGEOUS for us, 60s and 70s and sunny nearly the entire time.
We also, of course, were there around St. Patrick's Day and the boys HAD to celebrate with some green beer. We went to a bar that was our favorite while we were there, a little whole in the wall called The Roxy. We all loved it so much because it had a breathalyzer that you could breathe into with a straw. Then we went to another AMAZING two floor bar that was just HUGE. We celebrated in style with green beer, of course.
This trip was the first trip that I took with Dustin and I remember thinking how amazing it was to get to spend an entire week hanging out with him and visiting places I had always wanted to visit. DC is definitely a place that, when I think of it, I think of my first major trip with Dustin. I can't wait to go back again, now with Dustin as my husband, and explore it even more.
