Percy Jackson is just finishing up another year at his mortal school and looking forward to another summer at Camp Half-Blood. But before school can even end, things are going wrong. Pretty soon Percy, along with Tyson, a homeless kid from Percy's school, are on their way to camp. Once they get there, Percy discovers that Tyson is not just a homeless kid but a homeless Cyclops and a son of Poseidon, making Tyson Percy's half brother. Before any of this can sink in, though, a quest presents itself. Grover, one of Percy's friends, is missing and the camp is in danger. The quest involves going to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve not only Grover but also the golden fleece, something that could help Camp Half-Blood get back on its feet.
Okay, I am now totally sucked into the Percy Jackson adventure. I had a harder time with the first book because I'd seen the movie and already kind of knew what was going to happen (such a book killer, I will never do that again). This second book totally made me fall in love with the characters and the story. On top of that, there's a good amount of action and some very dry human that keeps the entire story just zipping along. Again, I will compare this to Harry Potter and say that it is pretty much Harry Potter for mythology lovers. There enough in common that is you love the HP books you'll probably love Percy Jackson but enough differences that you won't be bored.
I can't wait to start on the third book!

Don't tempt me with this series! I have a whole stack of True Blood books to get through, and a couple others. Not enough time!
I hate when a movie ruins a book...but most of the time it doesn't because the book has so much more detail.
i really have to make time to read more....i find it impossible! it's a goal i'm trying to set for myself :)
Oh, I love you for posting about Percy Jackson, Krysten! I've been contemplating reading it myself. Have you seen the film? A few people told me that they were unhappy with the movie version. :/
I love that you have this as part of your blog! Thanks to you, I've just started up the Twilight series again, so after that (which should be by Monday if it goes as fast as last time...lol) I will be picking up this new read! Thanks girl!
You've sold me on Percy Jackson. And Harry Potter. I'm determined to read the whole series.

Sounds like a cool book. I'm a HP/mythology fan, so it sounds perfect for me!
i've decided that you must read a book/hour. you must read like a million of them each year. i'm so impresed! you inspire me.
My mom would love you, she's all about Percy Jackson!
oh goodness i need to read this!! i love a good series!!
It was a great series... My students are disappointed by the movie... It didn't live up to their expectations.
Riordan has a great gift for writing young adult books. I hope he can find a way to expound upon the series.
