Evermore by Alyson Noël

After a terrible car accident claims the lives of her family, Ever Bloom finds that she can see people's auras, read their minds and at a mere touch can know everything about them.  She does her best to avoid human contact and is very quickly labeled a freak at her new school.  And then Damen Auguste appears on the scene.  Damen is gorgeous, wealthy and more than a little mysterious.  Ever finds herself drawn to him and feels almost as if she knows him from somewhere.  And as she gets closer and closer to him she finds that something's a little off about Damen.  Although she's falling completely in love with him she knows she needs to find out who - or what - he is.

This book was new to my library so when I walked by it I was caught by the cover.  Then I read the back and knew I had to read it.  It's a young adult novel and at first I couldn't help but compare it, at least a little, to Twilight.  However, this book definitely stands on its own.  Although there is still mystery and still a girl wondering, "Who is this guy and what's his deal?" I found that Ever Bloom isn't at all like Bella Swan (very much less... emo, I suppose).  And Damen isn't the type of guy to back away from his girl and wallow about being damned.  This is definitely one of the better young adult novels I've read lately and it was one I couldn't put down and when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it.  I definitely cannot wait to pick up the next book in the series because I honestly cannot get over Ever and Damen.  My library better have the next one!

Do find this book, either at your nearest bookstore, local library or online.  I promise you you'll love it!

Yes. I am really glad to see a good review on this because I have been *thisclose* to just buying the damn thing already but EVERY time whoever I'm with tells me they heard it sucked. UGH. So now I can be all like, "Oh yeah? Krysten says it's good and she's cooler than you!" :)

Have you read the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, yet? If not- get your butt on it!
