Christmas Weekend

Anyone else totally exhausted and feeling like you ate WAY too much this weekend?  Because I totally feel that way.  But I had a really great Christmas and I hope you all did too!

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve day cleaning the house.  I do love spending the holidays here but man it is not fun having to clean everything up only to have everyone leave a few days later and it's a total mess again!  Guess that's what happens when you host the holidays.

Christmas Eve evening Dustin and I went to Dustin's grandparents' house, who live here in River Falls.

Dinner was amazing - swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, cranberries and green bean casserole (which I did not eat, it grosses me out).  Once we'd totally stuffed ourselves we had dessert, brownies and lemon bars and ice cream and hot fudge.  It was nuts.  We did a little gift exchange with Dustin's grandparents and then Dustin, Taryn and I made a quick detour back to the house to pick up Monte before heading to his dad and step-mom's for the night.  We watched A Charlie Brown Christmas and then all went to sleep early in anticipation for Santa!

Christmas Day

Taryn woke us up at 7 so that we could go downstairs to see what Santa brought us.  I've only done Christmas with my in-laws one other time but it's pretty great.  Candy everywhere, my favorite.  Even Monte was excited!

I was most excited for Taryn to open her gift.  We went to Build-A-Bear Workshop and built her a Rudolph, which is one of her favorite Christmas movies.  She loved it.  

After presents we had an awesome breakfast of pancakes, potatoes, scrambled eggs and sausage.  Taryn's boyfriend Matt arrived and after we were done eating we watched Elf (my third time this season, yay). and had margaritas.  Oh and did shots of tequila.  At ten in the morning.  That's how we roll in small town Wisconsin.

And on the way home we broke out the *N SYNC Christmas CD.

When we got back to the house it was time for MORE presents.  But first we wanted to take some family pictures.  You know, before tearing off all the wrapping paper.

My parents went a little nuts and got Ryan and us each a new TV.  Which is MUCH needed, the TV that Dustin and I have in our bedroom is seriously an antique.  My grandma sent money, also much needed since D and I still need to pay the stupid IRS and get new tires for his car.  My mom received tons of new close, Ryan got lots of stuff for the downstairs apartment, I gave Dustin an awesome Twins watch and he gave me a purse and Eclipse (the movie).

After all the gifts were opened we had turkey, stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole for dinner (I again did not eat the casserole, ew) and seriously I wanted to explode.  We spent the rest of the evening watching Eclipse and then our favorite episodes of Friends.

The Day After Christmas

Oh man.  Seriously.  My parents and Ryan worked on the apartment downstairs.  Dustin and I were just totally lazy.  And honestly, the eating never stopped.  At some point everyone was in the living room watching football (well, they all watched, I read a book) and it was just nice to hang out together eating ourselves silly.

I can't believe the weekend went so fast!  And now we have to prepare the house AGAIN for guests for New Year's Eve!

And then maybe I'm hibernating.
