Sea & Asters is a shop that sells gorgeous air plants and air plant terrariums. These have become all the rage lately but would you believe I used to have a couple of air plants probably 15 years ago? Sadly, I think my mom ended up taking them over but the lovely Monica of Sea & Asters was kind enough to send me my very own terrarium. I promise pics on Monday!
I wanted to get to know Monica a little more so I asked her some questions about her shop:
Where did you come up with the name for your shop? Sea & Asters is a combination of two sources of inspiration. Tillandsias always remind me of creatures from the sea. Asters, one of my favorite flowers, are growing in our home garden.
What or who are your inspirations? I work in the horticulture industry so I am always surrounded and inspired by nature and gardens.
What are 3 of your favorite items from your shop? Two of my favorite items are hanging glass globe terrariums named “Green Layers” and “Agate Slice”. My third favorite item, “Suspended”, is a glass vase which holds the air plant in such a way that it looks to be suspended in the air.
Where do you see yourself and your shop at this time next year? By next year, Sea & Asters will feature wedding inspired items. I am also looking forward to bringing other elements of nature to the shop.
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs? If you love what you’re doing don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

I love these! My mom used to have them when I was little. I hail from a long line of gardeners and yet, somehow, the gene stops here. I'm just not great at it, but I *so* want to learn.
