Winter | Why Girls Are Weird

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Well, as of yesterday it is winter coat weather.  I'm actually really shocked that I made it till the middle of November without one.  They're saying possible snow for here in Wisconsin over the weekend and all I can think is "can't I just hibernate until spring?"

I'm not much of a winter person.  I don't like to be cold, I really don't like snow (especially driving in it) and I'm not really a fan of being pale.  However, there are some really great things about winter.

  1. My purple winter coat from Old Navy.  I always feel gorgeous when I wear it.
  2. Hot chocolate, coffee with Baileys and tea with honey.  I love hot drinks on a cold day.
  3. TIGHTS.  I'm slowly building my collection and I feel so girly when I wear them.
  4. The holidays.  Enough said.
  5. Snuggling up with that special someone.
  6. Scarves.  They're one of my favorite winter accessories.
  7. Winter food.  You know, beef stew and chicken noodle soup.
  8. Cute gloves and mittens.  They keep your hands warm and they're fashionable.
  9. Having movie marathon and board game days.  There's nothing better when it's snowing out.
  10. Candles.  I love lighting candles when it's all snowy out.  So pretty.

Do you like winter?  Or do you have to find things that make winter cheerier, like I do?

Cold. Snow. Hot drinks. Love it all. Waiting (not so) patiently for it to get here. I'm looking at Quebec weather obsessively (which is where we're going this weekend) and seeing 7-10 degrees (Celsius) and thinking, "that's not cold enough!!" lol
I guess I really am a Canadian girl, eh?

Cafe Fashionista

I absolutely love winter. I especially adore curling up in my pajamas with a mystery novel when the temperatures drop - it's such a cozy feeling! :)

I've never seen snow, but I think I would love it! I love cold weather!

Robin @ our semi organic life

I'm not a huge winter fan either! I love summer! I do love candles, snuggling and scarves though!

Chic 'n Cheap Living

While there is no winter weather here, ooh do I love beef stew and chicken noodle soup on rainy days!

Chic 'n Cheap Living

I love winter, but not heavy coats. haha

Hot choco and scarves make winter for me!

I do like winter...but I live in San we don't really have that here. ;)

completely agree with every item on this list. In fact, I think I might just need to indulge in some fatty cream based soup today! :) xo

i hate being cold too, but i do love the Snow, long walks in the crunchy stuff then a night by the log fire with some mulled cider....sigh...

Crazy Shenanigans-JMO

I am NOT a fan of the freezing cold. I had to break out my winter coat yesterday and I was/am not happy. Boo! lol

Ah I love this list!!!! It's my favorite yet :)

Every girl should own something they feel gorgeous in, hot coffee & Baileys yes plz, scarves you can never have enough! Love love love

New Life in Spain

I really quite dislike the winter, and it's actually one of the main reasons for my move to Spain!
But when you've got it, it's all about making the most of it, and your list sounds pretty good!

I am not much of a winter person either, give me spring and I am happy. But you just made me look at winter in a happier way:)

Alena: Oh, It's Just Perfect!

It is pretty darn cold here today!! I'm also not a huge winter person, but I do loves scarves, hot chocolate and being cozy on the couch with blankets and tea ;)

I've never been a big fan of this time of year because I hate to feel cold (and I miss my summer dresses/music!) but there are many things about it that I do like (holidays, snuggling, being able to stay under the covers with a blanket, and excusing myself from going out b/c it's too cold).

I love this post! I sort of have a love hate relationship with Winter...I despise the cold...and I really hate driving in the snow..however you have listed some lovley things about winter. There is nothing better than being cozy inside and the beautiful snow fall!

Amber Blue Bird

you forgot my birthday. :)

Last day to enter my Shabby Apple Giveaway!

The Non-Student

Winter accessories FTW! But, I am hating the dark days. I think we should all hibernate--stay in, eat fatty foods, watch Dexter, and fall asleep until April.

yesterday was the first day here with the real bite of winter,

in an odd way, I LOVED it!

Hi Krysten, what a pretty blog! I know what you mean about winter, it's not my favourite season either, hate the cold and i hate wearing layers and layers of clothing but saying that winter has its good points, for instance my partner now likes to snuggle up when we sleep (i know he is only using me for warmth but i aint complaining!) and then there's christmas, which is always the best bit! thank you so much for dropping by my blog :) xx

Tights!!! Oh my goodness how cute and fun! I usually dread winter, but this winter I am kind of looking forward to it. Wierd? I know!

i hate snow. i hate being cold. the only perks of the chilly weather are the super cute boots, scarves and sweaters we get to wear. other than that, i say eff off to winter and the snow. utah i believe comes in close second to terrible winters to your home state.

we will be doing a lot of those things listed when cute guy and i fly out to come visit!!!! CAN'T WAIT.

Aaah, the elusive winter weather. It's supposed to rain here this weekend, but today I went on a hike in a t-shirt, and broke a good sweat. Ugh. I want to wear tights toooooo!! (meant to be read as very whiny-haha)
I love your list...everything on it sounds so dreamy!

I miss the cold and snow so much. Snowy days in are the best. I love reading by the glow of the fireplace on a snowy night. I also love winter coats, gloves, scarfs, etc. Arizona winter only means 40 and 50 degrees and no snow. boo :(

I miss winter a lot. Australian winter is just a poor substitute for snow!

I'm not a huge fan of winter but I like snow on weekends when I don't have to drive to work. :) Love your list. They are so many items that I love that you associate with winter. I can't wait to make some soups this winter.

Vanisha @ Vanisha's Life In...Australia

I say I'm not a huge winter fan but I haven't experienced that many winters so maybe I'm still figuring it all out. I love winter fashion though...mostly on other people!

Mrs. Pancakes

I HATE winter but I do love a nice warm coat and comfy sweaters!! It's cold here too and I am dreading snow!

la petite coquine

I'm not sure I loved winter when I got it every year, but now that I'm in SF, I crave an excuse to wear aprés-ski boots, fur trapper hats and tromp in the snow!

Emma Frances

I love all these things about winter too! I like winter all around. :) Except for the driving. I'm a scaredy cat of driving in the snow! It's a but nerve-racking. Anyway, I think you should post a pic of your purple coat. It sounds gorgeous!

Elle Sees

purple coat???? I'm DYING. I need to steal, i mean, see this at once. i adore all things aubergine.

I love being able to bundle up in a nice coat and cute hat, go skating on the river, drink tea all night, and and cozy up inside when the sun goes down earlier than it should be allowed to. Winter in Winnipeg is a bit of a struggle, but over the years I've found the beauty in it.

The Blonde Duck

I loathe and despise winter.

I'm absolutely in love with winter! I think it's the best season ever not just because I'm born on December lol. I love the cozy outfits I get to wear, hot drinks, the holidays, and pretty much everything about it. <3

Lots of love, B

yup the winter food is probably my most exciting WANT!

I totally need to save this post and reread it when I start to complain about winter. I'm such a winter-hater, but you're right, it does have its good points. One definitely being hot chocolate!

I absolutely hate winter. It's strange because I was born way up north when it was winter for over half the year. I guess the only thing that cheers me up about winter is my birthday.

GAH JEALOUS!!! I don't get ANY of those! I'm dying to wear tights with Ugg boots, but haven't had the chance in the past 6 years. Boo.
