The 50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind Part 1

One of the things on my 101 in 1001 list is to answer the 50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind.  I've been putting a few things on my list off simply because I've been lazy but with less than a year left and only 40% completed I know I need to get myself in gear.

So each Wednesday I'm going to answer 5 questions off the list until I've done all 50!  So here we go!

{via}

1.  How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?  Some days I feel like I would be really old.  Others I feel like I would be really young.  I remember when I was younger I thought I'd have everything figured out by now.  Heck, my mom had 2 kids by the time she was my age!  And yet I am nowhere near that.  So I guess my answer is either 72 or 15 depending on the day!
2.  Which is worse, failing or never trying?  I would like to answer never trying because I know you never know until you try.  But I'm one of those people that doesn't like to try something unless I know that I'm going to succeed.  You wouldn't know that based on all the mistakes I've made but what can I say?  I hope one day I can answer never trying instead of failing.
3.  If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?  I think it's because even though we rationally know that life is short sometimes it's hard to remember that.  At 28 I know that I'm getting older and yet it's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that one day I won't be able to do everything I once set out to do.  I put off till tomorrow what I could do today, telling myself that there will always be time.  I guess maybe it's time to start doing everything I want to, right?
4.  When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?  Unfortunately yes.  This is something I'm trying to work on.  I have so much I want to do but I haven't done a whole lot of it.  Once again I say maybe it's time to make a change.
5.  What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?  Intolerance.  It makes me so sad.  People are killing themselves because other people hate them, even though those other people don't even know them.  School shootings happen because of intolerance.  Gang violence - intolerance.  Wars because of intolerance.  I seriously feel like if people could just be more tolerant of others that are different then maybe the world could be that much better.  It seems so SIMPLE and yet... so hard.  Why is that?

There you have it, the first 5 questions!  More next week!

I definitely agree with your answer for #5, everything would be a lot more pleasant if people were tolerant with one another and had respect.

People waste so much precious time with intolerance!

These are such thought provoking questions. The age one especially. I think I'd be 30.

Great answers! And I'm with you on #1...some days I feel like a lost little teenager, and other days I feel world weary and far older than my years. Then of course there are days that I feel like just what I am: a 24-year-old who's doing pretty a-ok at this whole life business. I like those days best. :)

Great answers. Love number 5, so true and wish more people would see and understand that too.

I love your answers to these questions. I think I would be about 17 forever, or maybe 21. That would be perfect.

I would be the same way with age. Somedays I feel like I'm still a child and others I feel like the old lady down the block. I feel like I have an old soul though. :)

Whoa, these questions are so complicated. I totally agree with your answers especially for number 4 and 5. I often find myself stating what I'm going to do, but not really doing anything to make it happen. What can I say? I'm a work in progress. :)

Lots of love, B

You nailed on number 5!

Love 1 and 5! I agree, some days I feel like I could seriously be 85 years old (soup, sewing, bed by 8) and other days I feel like I'm 16 again.

I am so with you on number 1! I also love your thoughts on intolerance. I feel the exact same way.

Great answers! I think I would be 30 forever. That was a good breakthrough year for me :) I dunno if that entirely answers the question, but it's the best I got.

Love your answer to #5 :)

Like you, I think I say more than I do to. I'm such a dreamer, and I'm in my head a lot--I need to take action more often. These were great questions and answers...definitely got me thinking!

This is a great segment. It's a good way to see into a blogger's mind. I agree about intolerance!

This is a great list! I can't wait to try it out. I can relate to your answer about #2. I feel really uneasy when I commit to something I don't already know I can succeed at. But I definitely hope to change that this year and to go for somethings I'm unsure about so that at least I can say I did try, because otherwise, I really will never know, and I feel like that would be worse in the long run.

I have this on my 101 list, too. I'm so excited that you are doing this! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep my answers that short, but I do love your answers! I love #3. It's why I started my 101 list. To do the things I want to do, while I still can.

I think just this year I've started to really notice how much I need to do the things I want to do! we've been going to lots of events and on lots of trips that normally I'd say "no" to... and now I'm hooked!

bring on 2012!
