The 50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind Part 2

{via}

6.  If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?  Writing would make me rich.  I feel like there would be no better "work" in the world than to be paid to create a world and write it down for others to enjoy.  I think being a published author will always be my dream but whether or not I get paid to write I will always feel a NEED to do it.
7.  Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?  Right now I'm settling.  But that's because I'm trying to work towards being able to do what I believe in.  I remember when I was young and I thought being an adult would be so easy and fun.  It's not.  Some days it downright sucks.  So sometimes you have to give up doing what you believe in so you can settle for paying the bills.  For me, though, the settling right now will hopefully get me to being able to do what I believe in.  So it's worth it.
8.  If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?  I'm not sure.  Although mortality is something that I recognize more than I used to I think I still have a hard time comprehending the fact that one day I too will die.  Maybe if the human life span was 40 years I would already have a grasp on my own mortality and maybe then I would be living my life differently.  I think until I can fully grasp the fact that one day this all will end I won't really be able to live every single day to the fullest.
9.  To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?  In every degree.  I am the only one responsible for my actions and I believe that I am at the place that I'm in because of the choices that have made.  Maybe they weren't all good choices.  But I believe that things happen for a reason and there's a reason that I'm here right now.  I also think that we make mistakes to learn from them and so each mistake I've made has happened to teach me a lesson.  In the end, I am in control of my life and where it goes.
10.  Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?  I'm staring at this question unsure of how to answer it.  I think a lot of times I worry about doing things right because I want them to be right.  If I'm asked to do something I am a perfectionist so I will do what I'm asked the right way.  I would hope that those things would be the right things as well.  I don't think I would do something if, in my mind, it wasn't the right thing.  So I guess I would hope those two would go hand in hand.

I totally agree with #1.

I love your answer for #2. Sometimes, people get caught up in always having to do what makes you happy 100% of the time but that's not reality. Reality is that sometimes you have to settle for a while until you get to where you ultimately want to be. I may be settling with the job I have now, but it's only because it's taking me to where I want to be in the long run. It takes time and we just have to be patient and open to opportunities.

Love that you're answering these. :)

#3 is a tough one!! I just know I have been trying to live life to the fullest each and every day which can definitely be a challenge!

Good answers - it sounds like you're at a 'good' place right now. Settling can be good or bad, seems like you're viewing it as good, for now. I like that!

# 1 = ditto for me! :)

I just love these questions....I think I want to do them too!

I totally hear you on the settling thing. We all tend to settle even though our mind tells us to work harder for something. There's something safe in accepting something as is.

these are some serious questions. so interesting! and i think it's hard not to settle for what you're doing. i think most people do.

Still totally obsessed with this project. I'm like you, though, on matters of #2. We all have to pay our dues at some point along the way in order to accomplish the things that we actually dream. I think it makes it all that much sweeter, tho. xo

Love your answer on writing and number four as well. It's such a good mentality to have about things.

The forty year life span question really got me thinking. That is such a crazy thought to try to grasp. I am really liking these questions, Krysten. Thanks for sharing.

Great answers! #5 was a toughie. I think if I knew I was going to die at 40...I would worry a lot less about saving for retirement lol and just work a nothing job so I was less stressed.

very thoughtful answers. I think if live ended at 40 I would have had some babies by now.

neat answers! If 40 was the lifespan I'd probably quit grad school and have kids. no joke!

Oh gosh. If 40 were the life span, I'd be really close to death! And then I think about my friends who are closer or PAST that. So sad. I kinda like not knowing my destiny.

I know you will meet your dream of writing someday, Krysten! You are so good at it!

The good news is, someday, you'll be able to write *and* be happy *and* do what you believe in! And it will be so RIGHT.

Yes, writing is my passion too, but I'm not fiction writer. I just don't feel like I have the capacity to formulate a whole story like that!

I love that first question--what a great way to think about what you want to do with your life. For me, it would be reading. If someone could pay me to read, I'd be the happiest girl in the world!

Your answer to no. 5 really hit home with me–all I can say is yes, yes, yes!

Love question #4. SOOOO many people don't realize how much control we have on a daily basis. Whether we realize it or not. We're behind the wheel!

All tough and thought provoking questions. And you're tackling them with so much honesty that it's refreshing. But that is something that I have come to admire about you.

I took #1 to heart a few years back and it totally changed my life. It's always good to keep reminding yourself about these though...thanks so much for sharing!

It's obvious how much you love to write, so these posts are fun to read!

I'm with you- it's hard to find a balance between doing the right things and doing everything right. I'm a perfectionist too so it can be a challenge sometimes, but it's a good balance to have if you can :)

Great answers!

Right now I'm settling. But that's because I'm trying to work towards being able to do what I believe in. < I don't believe you'll ever settle for anything, and the course your life has taken in the last year alone should be proof of that. There's much you have yet to do, and I'm glad you are such a go-getter :)

I really enjoy these questions. It's nice that I get to read your answers, but it also gets me thinking as well. I used to feel like I was settling, but I made the choice to act and don't feel like that anymore. It's a good feeling.
